Full Time Therapeutic Recreation Specialist – Utah State Hospital

Employment is available at the State Hospital working on a specific Unit with a variety of patients with mental illness. You will be part of the RT department associating with 20 other Recreation Therapists. Responsibilities include planning and leading TR groups, coordinating with other professional staff, document your work and the progress of patients following the APIE process. There are opportunities to run groups on and off campus, providing community re-integration. Staff meetings and training’s are a regular routine for RT staff and interns. RT’s find rewarding experiences in outdoor activities year round. Hospital patients range in age from children through adults. Patients have a variety of mental and emotional challenges, short term and long term. Many of the latest research methods are employed in the Treatment Teams efforts to improve the quality of life for our patients.

Minimum Requirements Must be 18 years old.

Possess a Utah State License in Recreation Therapy and be nationally certified with NCTRC.

Be able to work with a treatment team, and have consistent professional work habits.

It’s a 40 hour per week position. There is a potential to work 4 /10 hour days or 5/8 hours.

Must have a good driving record and be able to drive large vans for group outings.

Having Life Guard certification is a plus, but we can train.
