Full Time Recreation Therapist – Utah State Hospital

RT will perform quality patient assessments, develop treatment plans, implement treatment, and assess/ evaluate patient progress and treatment program effectiveness and document it. RT will work as part of a treatment team, they must be able to clearly communicate, cooperate and coordinate treatment with other team members. As the hospital is a training education hospital, RT’s are expected to contribute through continued training and education of student interns. Provide Evidenced Based Research for incorporated programs. Lead Group and individual treatment for patients. Provide Therapy and leisure education, document progress “Notes” in hospital echart (electronic documentation). Participates on professional improvement committees and staff trainings, adheres to accreditation standards. Be a good organizer, effectively uses time management, being an advocate champion for RT profession. RT’s have access to an on campus ropes course, indoor swimming pool, 18 hole disc golf, stocked trout pond, camping, canoeing, biking, community integration venues, ceramics, and a wide variety of activities.

Minimum Requirements Be at least 18 years of age. Licensed (UT) TRS or MTRS and National Certification- NCTRC required Be in good physical and mental health and be able to physically exert oneself which may include; move over rough surfaces, bend, crouch, stoop, stretch, lift moderate to heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) in a recurring manner and or for long periods during the day. Be able to work 40 hours per week. Possess or be able to complete First Aid and CPR training. Possess or be able to acquire a valid Utah Drivers license and be able to safely transport patients in vans and cars. RT’s are encouraged to train and complete Red Cross Life Guard certification at the hospital. Be able to professionally implement quality “Evidenced Based” RT programs.
