Copper Hills Youth Center has an immediate opening for Per Diem Recreation Therapist who is licensed and certified as a TRS, CTRS. Experience with adolescent youth preferred. Duties include (but are not limited to) Assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating client care through Recreation Therapy. Competitive wage and a generous shift premium pay.
Copper Hills Youth Center is a 197-bed private residential treatment center for adolescents 12-17 years of age. We counsel, teach and mentor children placed in our care and give each child a chance to make successful changes. We strive to improve lives and help children help themselves. At Copper Hills, we treat boys and girls who have emotional, behavioral and psychiatric disorders, including anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression. We also specialize in caring for patients with Asperger’s syndrome. For youth with co-existing substance abuse problems, we offer weekly individualized therapy that focuses on education, recovery and abstinence. |Minimum Requirements||1. Education and/or Experience
Bachelors degree from four year college or university with two years related experience and /or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of one-year experience preferred.
2. Language Skills
Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write progress notes and business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public.
3. Mathematical Skill
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest percentages and record receipts for petty cash reimbursement.
4. Reasoning Ability
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
5. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification/ or eligible for certification. CPR and First Aid certification.

7. Physical Restraint
This position requires the ability to physically restrain patients. The Frequency and rationale for using CPI is for the purpose of prevention of harm to self and others.
