Full Time Recreation Therapist – Rady Children’s Hospital

Full time, benefits eligible position based in San Diego, California, within Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Services. Evaluates the functional ability of patients through assessment of resident’s skills (by clinical observation, interpretation of standardized tests, & patient/family interview). Creates individualized treatment plans, re-evaluates procedures, documents progress & completes written reports for quarterly & annual meetings. Consults with medical team, health professionals, family & school staff to render an individual intervention plan. Trains staff through formal in-services & direct, hands-on training. Coordinates all recreational activities and the volunteer program, as well as maintains safe transportation services, operation of wheelchair vehicles & working with community groups.

Minimum Requirements Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree

1 year of experience

Recreational Therapist Certification

CPR/BLS Certification through the American Heart Association

Leadership ability in both professional and interpersonal relationships

Preferred Qualifications

2 years of experience 

Previous experience working with individuals with disabilities (Special Olympics, camp, school)

Experience with inpatient treatment of children & adolescents
