Board of Directors Election 2016

This year there are two nominations for the Board of Directors. Both of these individuals are well-qualified and have done several things to advance and enhance the recreation therapy profession. You can find their bios below.

Voting is open to licensed professionals only. Students can look forward to participating in a great opportunity such as this when they are licensed to practice recreation therapy.

Lois Banks


Lois graduated from the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in Recreation Therapy. She completed her internship at the South Davis Community Hospital and was hired upon graduation in 2004. Lois worked for two years on the Alzheimer’s Unit, then became the manager of the Recreation Therapy Department. Lois has managed a staff of 7-9 Recreation Therapists for almost 10 years. Before earning her degree she had experience working with various populations including psychiatric, physical disabilities and children with autism. Lois served as a student representative of the URPA Board and 1 year on the University of Utah Advisory Council.

In her leisure time Lois enjoys hiking, gardening, crafting and playing with her grandchildren.

John Webb


John Webb has worked as a Recreation Therapist in a variety of treatment environments including: residential treatment, wilderness, group homes, and hospital settings.  He is currently working at the University of Utah Neuropsychiatric Institute as the Expressive Therapy Manager.  He has been on the URTA Executive Committee since 2008 and was president from 2013-2015.  As a Dad of 4 boys John enjoys spending time with his family camping, swimming and attending his son’s different sports and scouting activities.
